- He holds teaching positions for trombone and chamber music at the Bach Gymnasium in Berlin, as well as for brass instrument pedagogy at the Berlin University of the Arts.
- Trombone and chamber music teacher at the Béla Bartók Music School in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg and in the pre-college program at the Paul Hindemith Music School in Berlin-Neukölln. His students have performed in various orchestras and have achieved top awards at competitions such as “Jugend Musiziert”, and some have gone on to pursue professional music careers.
- Brass section coach for rehearsals with the orchestras of Humboldt University Berlin, the Lower Saxony State Youth Wind Orchestra, the German-Scandinavian Youth Philharmonic, as well as at various workshops and retreats for wind orchestras and trombone choirs. Since the 2014/15 season, Fabian Schmidt has been engaged as a trombonist with the Brandenburg State Orchestra in Frankfurt/O. Over the years, he has established himself as a versatile musician, performing both as a tenor and bass trombonist. His dynamic musical career includes numerous guest appearances with prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.
In addition to his orchestral work, Fabian has developed a deep passion for chamber music and solo performances. He has performed as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Humboldt University Berlin, the Lower Saxony State Youth Wind Orchestra, and the Junge Ensemble Berlin. His chamber music collaborations include work with ensembles such as Weltblech/Worldbrass, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble Apparat (as a former member), and Ensemblekollektiv Berlin. Furthermore, he regularly partners with organists and pianists for chamber music performances.
Fabian's diverse interests also extend to live musical accompaniment for silent films, particularly at the renowned Babylon Cinema in Berlin. Additionally, he has performed as a guest bass trombonist and tubist in Hamburg’s production of the musical “The Lion King”.
